Question
Issue: How to fix Microsoft Edge browser issue?
When Microsoft Edge opens, it loads the tabs from previous sessions, or it displays several tabs at the same time. This phenomenon annoys me quite a bit. In addition, I want to set a specific homepage, but I do not seem to find how to do it. Thanks for the tips in advance.
Solved Answer
Microsoft Edge browser problems are common recurrences. Depending on the cause of the issue, users might encounter difficulties settings the homepage or managing the browser according to their own liking. What is more, some of the inconveniences might be triggered due to the outdated elements in the browser or due to Microsoft Anniversary update. No need to get anxious as there are solutions regardless of the problem you are facing. In addition, we would like to suggest you to run a system scan with Reimage to make sure that there are no malignant elements causing the browser’s problems.
Option 1. Managing registry entries
In case several tabs opening at the startup of the browser annoy you, you can solve the issue by following these steps:
- Find this destination: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe
- Eliminate the contents.
- Type Windows Powershell in search box or do it after clicking “Start” button.
- Before launching Windows Powershell, right-click on it and choose Run as administrator.
- Copy and paste this entry:
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml” –Verbose}
Option 2. Check the device with System Checker Tool
It is the integrated Windows feature which is useful in detecting registry problems:
- Press Windows key and X at the same time.
- Run Command Prompt as the administrator.
- In the window, type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
- Exit the tool after the scanning is complete.

Don’t pay ransomware authors – use alternative data recovery options
Malware attacks, particularly ransomware, are by far the biggest danger to your pictures, videos, work, or school files. Since cybercriminals use a robust encryption algorithm to lock data, it can no longer be used until a ransom in bitcoin is paid. Instead of paying hackers, you should first try to use alternative recovery methods that could help you to retrieve at least some portion of the lost data. Otherwise, you could also lose your money, along with the files. One of the best tools that could restore at least some of the encrypted files – Data Recovery Pro.
