Before you download

  • The recommended fix is still Microsoft's installer, linked on the msvcp140.dll page: it puts the files in the Windows folders and keeps them updated.
  • This ZIP is for the cases the installer does not cover: a program that needs the files in its own folder, or a PC where the installer will not run.
  • ARM64 is for programs built for Windows on ARM devices (Snapdragon laptops). x64 and x86 programs need their own sets.

What to do with the files

  1. Unpack the ZIP.
  2. Copy the DLL files into the folder of the program that shows the error, the folder with its .exe file.
  3. Start the program again. Do not copy the files into System32 or SysWOW64: run the installer for that.
