Office error code 30068-44
on Windows

I had Office 2019 running on my computer with no problems for several years. However, there was an issue with Outlook that I couldn't fix, so I uninstalled the suite, only later to see that the installation does not work anymore and I get an error code 30068-44 every time. Any tips for me?

Office error code 30068-44 usually occurs when people attempt to install the Microsoft Office suite, resulting in them not being able to use Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and other included apps. Without a doubt, this can cause serious issues due to software's prevalence in both business and home environments.

30068-44 error code can stem from several factors, such as issues with the user's internet connection, corrupted Office installation files, or conflicts with other software on the computer. Most commonly, this problem arises due to another version of the app installed on Windows, which can be addressed by uninstalling the second version of it.

At times, Office installation files may become corrupted or damaged, leading to error code 30068-44. To resolve this, the user should redownload the installation files and attempt to reinstall MS Office. In other cases, the problem might be caused by conflicting software, particularly if other versions of the application are already installed on the system.

There are several ways you can fix Office error code 30068-44, and we provide the guidelines to do so below. Fix 1. Run the troubleshooters

• Type troubleshoot into the Windows search bar, then press Enter.
• In the options that appear, select Additional troubleshooters or Other troubleshooters (depending on your Windows version).
• Scroll through the list until you locate Windows Store Apps, then click on Run the troubleshooter/Run.
• Wait as the process runs to completion, then apply any recommended changes to resolve the issue.
• Repeat with Network and Internet troubleshooter.

On Windows 10, run Network Troubleshooter as follows:

• Right-click on Start and pick Settings.
• Go to the Network & Internet section.
• On the right side, find the Advanced network settings section.
• Click Network troubleshooter, specify the problem, and wait till the scan is finished.
• When done, apply all the recommendations.

Fix 2. Use Support and Recovery Assistant

• Open your browser and go to the official Microsoft support website.
• Scroll down and click Download under Uninstall and reinstall Office.
• Once downloaded, double-click SetupProd_OffScrub.exe to launch it.
• When prompted, click Install.
• Once installed, launch Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant.
• Select Office & Office Apps and click Next.
• Next, choose I have Office 365 subscription, but I'm having trouble installing it option and click Next.
• Click Yes to begin a scan.
• Follow instructions after the scan is finished.

Fix 3. Clear cache files

• Type Disk Cleanup in Windows search and hit Enter.
• If your Windows is installed on drive C, pick it from the list (it should be by default) and press OK.
• Click Clean up system files.
• Select your main disk again and click OK.
• Here, select the largest portions of the data used - these typically include Temporary Internet Files, Windows Update, Temporary Files, Recycle Bin, Delivery Optimization Files, and others.
• Click OK - the process should be finished shortly.

Fix 4. Run SFC and DISM

Repair corrupted system files as follows:

• Type cmd in Windows search.
• Right-click on Command Prompt and pick Run as administrator.
• User Account Control window will show up - click Yes when prompted.
• Then, copy and paste the following command, pressing Enter after:
  sfc /scannow
• Wait till the scan is finished. If Windows finds system file integrity violations, it will attempt to fix them. After this, use the set of the following commands, pressing Enter each time:
  DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
  DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
  DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
  
• (Note: if you get an error executing this last command, add /Source:C:\RepairSource\Windows /LimitAccess to it and try again).
• Close down the Command Prompt and restart your system.

Fix 5. Check the Microsoft Office Click-to-Run service

• Type Services in Windows search and hit Enter.
• In the Services window, scroll down to find the Microsoft Office Click-to-Run service.
• Double-click on the service to open Properties.
• Unter the Startup type, select Automatic from the drop-down menu.
• Click Start, Apply, and OK.

Fix 6. Uninstall the other version of Office

• Right-click on Start and pick Apps and Features.
• Scroll down and check for duplicate versions of MS Office, for example, Office 365.
• Click Uninstall and then confirm with Uninstall.
• Follow the on-screen instructions and reboot your PC.
• Check if the error is gone.

Alternatively, you can do this through PowerShell:

• Type PowerShell in Windows search.
• Right-click on the result and pick Run as administrator.
• When UAC shows up, click Yes.
• In the new window copy and paste the following command, pressing Enter after:
  Get-AppxPackage -name “Microsoft.Office.Desktop” | Remove-AppxPackage
• Restart your system.
• Go to Microsoft Store and download the newest version of MS Office.
