Kernel_task high CPU usage

Hello. I cannot get why the random kernel_task causes high CPU usage on my Mac. I notice it takes hours sometimes. I think it affects the performance significantly too. I restarted a few times, and that is not helpful. I find the file reappearing after a time period, and this is annoying. I have no idea how damaging it can be. What is this process, and how to fix this CPU usage?
