Hello. Recently downloaded an Anniversary update and upgraded the system. Everything went ok, but after that I noticed that PC works slower than it used to before. On top of that, sometimes when I reboot it, the system freezes at around 20secs and the message saying “Microsoft Windows is not responding” appears. What should I do to stop this mix-up?

Although scheduled on July, long awaited Windows 10 update has been finally released on August 2, 2016. The update is vividly referred to as “Anniversary update.” If earlier updates used to touch some of the system parts, the newest Anniversary update includes much more changes touching all the corners of the Windows system. From the first glimpse, it seems that Windows specialists have heard all the complaints and analyzed all the deficiencies. However, it seems that slow downs, loads of errors, freezes, crashes, and similar issues torturing Windows 10 users were not amended, but rather increased.

Critics not spare observations and blame Windows for hurrying with the release as it turns out that the number of errors and other issues is huge. Here are several of Windows Anniversary Update errors:

How to fix Windows 10 slowdowns, freezes, and crashes after Anniversary Update?

NOTE: all the Windows 10 Anniversary Update fixes should be initiated while in the Safe Mode.

Fix 1. Change Start value for AppXsvc

• Start Windows in a Safe Mode. For that, hold the Shift key at the login screen and click the Power (lower right corner). Keep holding Shift key and select Restart.
• After that, hold Windows key and press R. Enter regedit into the search bar and click OK.
• Browse for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\AppXSvc in the Registry Editor and change the value from Start to 4.
• As soon as you do that, restart the PC into Normal mode. See if the system works better.

Fix 2. Change the Location of App Install

• Hold the Windows key and press A.
• Select All Settings – System.
• Locate Storage (on the left) and change the location from under Save Locations.
• If the location is C:/, change it to the secondary drive.
• If it’s not C:/, then make it to be.  

Fix 3. Install Rapid Storage Technology

• Go to the official Intel website and download the latest Rapid Storage Technology. Reboot Windows and see if Anniversary Update errors have gone.

Fix 4. Undo Anniversary Update

Going back to the previous build would disable Anniversary Update. It means that all the errors that came along with it should be disabled too. Keep in mind that Windows is continuously releasing updates, so it’s very likely that you will soon be able to get an improved error-free Windows 10 update.
Thus, to go back to the previous build you have to:

• Hold Shift at the login screen and click Power (lower right corner). When holding Shift, select Restart.
• After that, select Troubleshoot – Advanced Options – Go back to previous build.
• After that, you will be asked to choose User Account. Click on your User Account, enter password, and select Continue.
• Finally, select Go Back to Previous Build.

Fix 5. Install PC optimization tool
