• On the right side, click Check for updates

In case any of these steps fail to work, use Command Prompt instead:

• Open Command prompt as administrator as we explained earlier
• In the new window, copy and paste the following commands, pressing Enter after each:
  del “C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Scans\mpcache*” /s > NUL 2>&1
  del “C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Scans\History\Service\DetectionHistory\*”
  del “C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Scans\mpenginedb.db”
• Close down Command Prompt and restart your system.
