4. The rename the Catroot2 and SoftwareDistribution folders. Copy and paste the ren C:\\Windows\\System32\\catroot2 Catroot2.old and ren C:\\Windows\\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old commands in the Command Prompt dialog and press Enter after each of them.
5. Finally, restart MSI Installer, Windows Update Services, BITS services. To do so, copy and paste the commands given below and press Enter after each:
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc
net start bits
net start msiserver
6. Close Command Prompt and try to install the updates.
Fix 2. Run SFC and DISM utilities
1. Click Windows key + X and select Command Prompt (Admin).
2. Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
3. Copy and paste DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth command and press Enter.
4. Now copy and paste the DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth command. Don’t forget to press Enter to execute it.
5. Finally, close Command Prompt and restart the system.
