Issue: How to Uninstall Amazon Assistant?
Could you please help me to uninstall Amazon Assistant?? I’ve recently noticed Amazon Assistant icon on Chrome and then found it running on Task Manager. I’ve tried to uninstall it soo many times, but with no avail as it keeps reinstalling automatically. I wouldn’t be so anxious, but it’s on my work computer. Any help would be highly appreciated.
Amazon Assistant is a piece of software developed by Amazon. Even though it’s legitimate, it’s often dubbed as malware due to the stealthy installation methods.
Security experts have noticed that many freeware and shareware carry Amazon Assistant as an attachment, which is disclosed to the users only if they select to follow Advanced or Custom installation setup. Otherwise, the attachment is installed on the system by default, which is why it may be assigned to the group of potentially unwanted programs (PUP).
During the setup, Amazon Assistant registers itself to launch automatically on boot and inserts a web browser plug-in to Google Chrome, IE, Firefox or another web browser that the computer owner is currently using as default.
While this tool may be addressed as PUP, it’s not ad-supported or programmed to perform other irritating/potentially dangerous tasks. It works as a personal helper when online shopping on Amazon. It is supposed to inform people about the biggest discounts, though, having in mind that the computer user did not install it willingly, it may be useless and take up system’s resources.
Unfortunately, Amazon Assistant removal may be a difficult task to perform. PC users claim that it keeps reinstalling automatically or cannot be found on Add/Remove folder. If you can’t uninstall Amazon Assistant as well, we’ll provide a guide on how to do that down below:

- Click Uninstall a Program under Programs.
- Find Amazon Assistant, click it, and select Uninstall.
- After that, go to System and Security and open Administrative Tools.
- Check if Amazon Assistant service is still there. If you found it, then right-click on it to open Properties and change startup type from Automatic to Disabled.
- Finally, right-click on Win key and select Command Prompt (Admin).
- Type sc delete Amazon Assistant Service command and press Enter.
- If Amazon Assistant has injected a plug-in into your web browser, disable it and reset your web browser's settings
- Finally, reboot the system.
NOTE: we would also recommend you to check the system with a professional optimization tool, for instance, Reimage. It will fix corrupted registry entries and replace damaged Windows system files if there are any. On top of that, it will protect the system from malware.
