My desktop icons are gone

There are several reasons why your desktop icons might have gone missing, although, in most cases, the issue lies within Windows itself.

In some cases, fixing missing desktop icons is easy - all you have to do is disable tablet mode or ensure that icons are set to be visible via the desktop > View > Show desktop icons.

Nevertheless, most users claimed that rebuilding the icon cache helped them to fix missing icons from the desktop. For that, you need to access Command Prompt and type in several sets of commands.

As a last resort, you could also apply System Restore to return your system to the previous point in time.
