Hello. I tried to install Windows 11, version 22H2 but I received the 0x80070001 error code. I tried several times and it still does not work. Is there any way to fix this?

22H2 is the first major update for Windows 11. Microsoft has made a number of changes, including the Start Menu, Taskbar, Snap layouts, File Explorer, navigation pane, etc. However, many users have trouble when trying to install it. We previously wrote about 22H2 fails to install with error 0x8007000d. Now, some users report receiving the 0x80070001 error code when trying to update to Windows 11 22H2.

First of all, users should make sure that they meet all the needed requirements to update their system. Most importantly, people should make sure that they have at least 64GB of free space available. All drivers should be up-to-date. It is also best to disconnect any peripherals from the computer.

To fix Windows 11 22H2 failing to install with error code 0x80070001, the first step is to try running the Windows Update Troubleshooter. This is a built-in tool that can automatically diagnose and fix many common problems with Windows updates. In this guide, you will find 6 other steps that should help you fix this issue.

The manual troubleshooting process can be lengthy. If you want to avoid it, you can try using a maintenance tool like [d1]. It can fix most system errors, BSODs,[ref en-1] corrupted files, registry[ref en-2] issues, or clear cookies and cache.[ref en-3] Otherwise, follow the step-by-step instructions below.

  • Click the Windows button and select Settings
  • Select System from the left pane, then scroll down on the right pane, and click on Troubleshoot
