My win10 desktop went into automatic repair and could not repair. I’ve tried all the options in the advanced options list except restore and image recovery. I have neither.
Don’t want to reset because I have allot of programs installed. Lots of time will be necessary to reinstall them.
A Windows computer goes into a repair mode for a reason (data corruption, system file problems, etc.). In most of the cases, such action would result in a swift recovery, and all your information would be intact. System Restore option will not touch your personal files located on the computer, such as documents, pictures, videos, and others. However, it will send your PC back in time and will impact the installed programs, registry configuration, etc.
Nevertheless, it does not mean that all your programs will be deleted. Because System Restore brings you back in time, it will also have the system configuration of the previous date. How much back in time, it will go, however, depends on when you set the restore point, and whether you had it set to do it periodically.
Therefore, you will not lose all your installed applications. Besides, reinstalling applications takes less time than not being able to use your computer at all! Therefore, you should proceed with the remaining option.
