Issue: How to Disable Browser Choice Pop-Up?
Could someone please tell me how to get rid of browser choice pop up? Whenever I click on the link to a website, a pop-up message shows up where I have to select which web browser to use. There is an “always use this app” option, but it doesn’t work. This pop-up is really getting on my nerves. Please help! I could not find any useful tips, so any suggestions would be appreciated!

How to Disable Browser Choice Pop Up?
Method 1. Delete the Notification Directly
- Navigate to C:\Windows\System32 location and find browserchoice.exe file.
- Right-click on it and select Delete.
- Once done, restart your web browser and click on a random link to check if the Browser Choice pop-up has successfully been disabled.
Method 2. Give yourself a permission to disable Browser Choice Update
In case you were not allowed to remove browserchoice.exe file, you have to add your username and give yourself permission. For this purpose, do the following:
- Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\ browserchoice.exe.
- Right-click on the browserchoice.exe file and select Edit.
- Then click Add and type your user name.
Method 3. Run an Elevated Command Prompt
- Click Win key + X and select Command Prompt (Admin).
- Type wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:976002 and press Enter.
- Close Command Prompt and open your web browser to check if the pop-up is gone.
Method 4. Reset registry settings
- Click Win key + X and select Command Prompt (Admin).
- Type reg add HKLM\Software\BrowserChoice /v Enable /t and REG_DWORD /d 0×00000000 /f commands and press Enter after each of them.
- Close the window and the Browser Choice notification shouldn’t show up again.
