I have tried to follow your instructions for the following error: There were some problems installing updates, but we’ll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x80070422)
However, the Windows Update options are all greyed out in the Services panel.
I’ve tried everything I can find, but can’t resolve this. The last recorded update was in April. I have Windows 10 home on a new computer – purchased in March.
There might be several reasons why the service is grayed out for you and, hence, you cannot fix the 0x80070422 error.
You could try the following fixes that might help you:
1. Make sure you are logged in to your administrator's account - the access to vital Windows services is disabled for user accounts.
2. Run Windows Updates Troubleshooter - right-click on Start > Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Windows Update. Run the troubleshooter and see if it finds any issues.
3. Temporarily disable your anti-virus program, as it might block the access to Windows Update service modifications.
4. Create a new Windows account and see if the issue is still present.
Once you can access the service, please proceed with the steps described in this article.
