How to verify game files in Steam, Epic Games, Xbox app, EA app, Battle.net and GOG Galaxy

Steps written for Steam on Windows.

   Restart and open Steam

   Restart your computer and launch Steam.

   Open the game's menu

   Right-click the game in your Library, or open the game's Library page and select the gear icon on the far right.

   Open Properties

   Select Properties in the menu.

   Verify the files

   Select the Installed Files tab and select Verify integrity of game files.

   Wait for the result

   Steam checks the game's files. This can take several minutes.

Steps written for Epic Games Launcher on Windows.

   Open the launcher

   Open the Epic Games Launcher.

   Find the game

   Find the game in your Library.

   Open the game's menu

   Select the three dots on the right side of the game's line.

   Open Manage

   Select Manage.

   Verify the files

   Select Verify and wait for the check to complete. It can take a while for a large game.

Steps written for Xbox app on Windows.

   Open the Xbox app

   Open the Xbox app.

   Select the game

   In My Library, select the game.

   Check for updates first

   Select the More options button (three dots), then Manage > Files > Check for updates.

   Verify and repair

   If the update does not fix the problem, select Verify and repair on the same Files page. Then try to start the game again.

Steps written for EA app on Windows.

   Open your library

   Launch the EA app and go to your Library.

   Open the game's menu

   Find the game and select the three-dot menu on its tile.

   Repair the game

   Select Repair.

   Start the game

   When the repair has finished, try to launch the game again.

Steps written for Battle.net on Windows.

   Open Battle.net

   Open the Battle.net desktop app.

   Select the game

   Select the icon of the game you want to repair.

   Check for updates first

   Select the cogwheel next to the Play button and select Check for Updates. An update often fixes the problem on its own.

   Open Scan and Repair

   If the game is up to date, select the cogwheel again and select Scan and Repair.

   Begin the scan

   Select Begin Scan and wait for the repair to finish.

Steps written for GOG GALAXY on Windows.

   Open GOG GALAXY and select the game.

   Select the customization button to the right of the Play button.

   Verify and repair

   Select Manage installation > Verify / Repair. GOG GALAXY compares the files with the ones on its servers and downloads damaged files again.
